Certification recognises IT firm's commitment to information security and quality management
Harrogate-based, cloud services provider, InTechnology has achieved ISO 27001 certification, the international best practice standard for an Information Security Management System (ISMS) and ISO 9001 the internationally recognised standard for Quality Management.
ISMS is a systematic approach to managing information so that it remains secure and certification recognises that InTechnology adheres to the highest level of information security. ISO 9001 certification ensures that any processes that create and control any of the products and services an organisation supplies meet the needs and expectations of customers.
In recognition of this achievement Sue Cant, business development manager at the British Standards Institution (BSI) joined InTechnology at its Harrogate base to officially award the organisation with its certification.
Sue Cant said: "Information security and quality management encompass people, processes and IT systems and need to be strategic as well as operational.
InTechnology's approach to gaining this certification has been strong with no non-conformities noted during the audit. This demonstrates how the business already operated to extremely high standards of security and quality management.
Lord Parkinson, chairman of InTechnology received the award and commenting on this achievement, he said: "For any organisation that handles another's data, it's extremely important that the highest possible standards for securing and managing it are set.
"It's very easy to claim that the services you offer are the best and highly secure but it takes confidence to submit your organisation and its processes to an outside assessor.
"We are delighted BSI has recognised that our processes and services meet the highest possible standards."
Gwen Cooper, information security and quality manager, InTechnology said: "We manage highly confidential or sensitive data on behalf of our customers on a daily basis, so we take security incredibly seriously. After all, security is only as strong as its weakest link and that is why it is important for us to operate within strict guidelines and security policies.
"Many of our clients, particularly those from the finance or legal sector, are under pressure from their own customers to offer information security compliance, which is a major driver for gaining this certification.
"We have always worked to these standards, but now that we are ISO 27001 compliant, those customers that outsource their IT services to us do not need to go through the pain and expense of undertaking the certification process themselves.
"The ISO 9001 certification recognises our dedication to ensuring the highest standards for quality are set for all the products and services we offer our customers."
The Government is encouraging the take up and implementation of these standards and many public and private sector contracts stipulate it as a requirement for potential suppliers.
